初中英语《What’s the best movie theater? 》教学设计
I. Teaching aims:
①Knowledge aim: Students can read new phrases such as comfortable seats, best sound, close to home, etc and use sentence patterns such as “What’s the best movie theater?” to make sentences correctly.
②Ability aim: Students can improve their reading and speaking abilities.
③Emotional aim: Students can express themselves in public bravely and cooperate with their classmates.
II. Teaching key and difficult points:
Teaching key point: Students can get the main idea and detailed information of the listening material.
Teaching difficult point: Students can use new words and sentence patterns correctly in their daily life and can have confidence in speaking English in public.
III. Teaching methods:
Communication teaching method; Task based teaching method; Audio-lingual teaching method
IV. Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warming up
The teacher greets students and show some pictures about the movie theater with the help of the multimedia.
(Justification: This step can warm up the atmosphere of the class and catch students attention.)
Step 2 Pre-listening
The teacher shows some new phrases, such as comfortable seats, best sound, buy tickets quickly and close to home, and ask students “what’s the best movie theater in your mind?”
(Justification: This step can clear off the obstacles and help students learn new content better.)
Step 3 While-listening
The teacher plays the tape for two times. For the first time, students should find out the main idea of the dialogue. Then they will listen it again and answer the following questions:
①What’s the quality of Movie World?
②What’s the quality of Town Cinema?
③What’s the quality of Screen City?
The teacher will give praise to the one who shows right answer.
(Justification: This step can help students get the main idea and basic information of the material.)
Step 4 Post-listening
The teacher lets students to make new dialogues. One student asks “What’s the best movie theater?” and one student answers and gives reasons. Then change their roles. When they finish, the teacher will choose some groups to perform their dialogues in front of the class.
(Justification: This step can help students practice the new words, phrases and sentence structures they have learned in the class and strengthen their confidence to speak English.)
Step 5 Summary and homework
The teacher asks one student to be an assistant teacher to conclude what they have learned today and adds some points he or she forgets. After class, students should write a short passage about their favorite movie theater with the new knowledge.
(Justification: This step can help students consolidate what they have learned today.)
